Staff and Board
J. Marlow Schmauder specializes in guiding startups and nonprofit organizations through transitions, including rapid scale-ups, new program design, and strategic change processes; and in building and navigating inter-sectoral relationships among diverse groups and organizations at all levels of domestic and international society. Her 20-year career spans the nonprofit, private, and US government sectors.
Ms. Schmauder has a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy with honors from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and more recently, obtained a certificate in strategy for nonprofit organizations from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. She is a member of the Gifted Homeschoolers’ Forum, San Francisco Bay Area Gifted Homeschoolers, PG Retreat, and American Mensa, among other groups, and is an active participant in regional and national forums and online communities focusing on the educational needs of asynchronous scholars.
Board member Melanie Hayes holds a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis on the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of gifted and talented children. She is a credentialed teacher and educational consultant with experience in evaluation, assessment, intervention, professional development, and mentoring.
Board member Cheryl Theis, an education advocate with the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund, specializes in case management, consulting, advocacy and program development for students with neurocognitive disabilities such as Asperger’s Syndrome and Nonverbal Learning Disorder. She has a BA in Social Welfare and an MA in Medical Anthropology from UC Berkeley.
